Tarhe Youth Camp has been ministering to the youth in the Southern Ohio area for over 60 years. Tarhe Youth Camp is located in the heart of Blue Creek, OH. Tarhe offers a rustic camping experience that allows youth an opportunity to leave the world behind to focus on their relationship with God and building friendships. The Tarhe staff teaches lessons that help youth build a deeper more meaningful relationship with Christ. This is done through group devotionals, team building activities, classes, games, worship, singing and fellowship. Tarhe Youth Camp offers a unique week of experiences that campers will never forget. |

In the late 1950's, Sam Fillmore, Pastor of Sunshine United Methodist Church in South Shore, Kentucky, had a vision of a youth camp that would be affordable for youth from all walks of life. After much prayer and hard work, this dream became a reality. In August of 1960, Tarhe Youth camp held its first overnight camp in a brush arbor. Over the years, the weeks of camp and the structures located on the campground have been expanded.
Tarhe Youth Camp has faced many challenges in its over sixty years of existence. The Steel building was toppled in a snowstorm, buildings and materials have been lost to floods, the Swinging Bridges and Prayer Chapel were toppled by trees. In 2007, however, Sam and Mary Lou reached a point in their lives where they could no longer manage and maintain camp, opening doors for new staff and new ideas to emerge. |
